バスケットボールという物体が自分の気分にまとわりついてなぜか離れていかない時があって、どうにかしてそれに触れることをすれば収まるのだろうかと考えていた。

単語としての空間がつながること、角の丸くなったモミジのような手と動物の肉球のぶよぶよした感じ、彫刻っぽいのか袋物っぽいのか、人間が球体を球体として扱うことを意識するその前夜のことを想った。果物が頭上から落ちてくる、それを受け止めることから認識が始まった、なら、四つ足で歩くよりも太陽の光に手をかざし雲を仕分けるために掌を空に向ける必要がある。新しいゲーム・習慣がいつも急に始まるように。

キツネが家の周りを何度も歩いて通り過ぎる時期があって、自分はそれが一匹なのか複数の別のキツネなのかの判別がつかず、その間自分はおそらく「何度も負け越している」もしくは「得点を入れられている状態」な感じがしていて、もちろんそれは一種のイメージに過ぎないのだけど、10回くらいを越えたあたりでようやくキツネの違いが分かるようになり、やはりキツネは複数いたのだと理解した。
